buying discus
Looking at buying a young leopard at my LFS. However the fish has higher than usual dorsal fin and very deep anal fin. This gives it a long appearance rather than round and looks unusual. Is this shape a desirable trend or should it be avoided. I have bought from the vendor before and happy with results.

in my own opinion, the word discus - round in shape. i will avoid anything that is not round in shape.

Paddy the "HIGH BODY" look is becoming more and more popular. It's a personal choice really and some people either hate it or love it.
If this leopard looks healthy and is selling for a good price, i'd certainly snap him up.

Just a question of taste really. I do not like the 'high fin' look or the 'bulldog' types.
IMO these are deformaties, and just another 'new thing' for people to spend their money on, a bit like the goldfish that have hearts and numbers tattooed on them
