Albino Blue Diamond Discus
Hi Guys,
I live in Melbourne , Australia and have been keeping discus successfully on and off for 25 years now and have kept many different discus type strains in my time.
In the last couple of years I have purchased 3 Albino Blue Diamond Discus and they have all eventually died on me , they just seem to be quite a fragile and non robust strain IMO opinion compared with my other non albino strains ( Turks , Pidgeons, Melons , Normal Blue Diamonds, Yellow Crystals , Super Eruption , about 8 discus inc adults & sub adults )
They always seem to end up last in the pecking order and just seem to waste away , get picked on and eventually die!, they also seem to be quite blind with their vision as well compared to the other strains.
I purchased 1 from Keysborough Aquarium , 1 from Sunnyside Aquarium ( Aquatico now ) and 1 x from New Life Aquarium
When I purchase discus I always make sure they are eating well before purchasing, I worm my discus regularly for internal & external parasites/protozoa and worms to keep them healthy and feed them a balanced diet.
The other discus are thriving and healthy as can be in the my 4ftx2ftx30inch discus community tank but I just seem to lose my Albino Blue Diamonds.
Has anyone else had problems with this strain like me or have I just purchased dud specimens with bad genetics because I really love the look of this strain as they look amazing.
Any advice most welcome.
Cheers Neil
