It won't help with parasites, unless it's done as a strong salt dip for external parasites like white spot, but that's a whole other story. Internal and external parasites need to be eradicated with the proper medication from your LFS.

Salt acts as a mild disinfectant and is good for mild skin scrapes or fin damage that a fish may have sustained during transport.
