When keeping discus what is the prefered tank cleaner for algae?

And make sure you wash 'em before you stick your hand in the tank.
I also use the gentle pot scourers (green ones you get from Coles etc etc) that don;t scratch the glass.
You can also buy cleaners from LFS, but I find the length of the stem often means you don't get a lot of hard contact between the cleaning surface and the glass. Like MAC says, best to get your hands in there.

I use a magnet glass cleaner for fishtanks. You can do a good job with that. Too bad it does not allow me to clean the backside of the tank since I have no room there. Well, it does a good job for the other three sides of the tank. No need to get my hands wet for that.
If you are talking about tank mates, ottos may not be a bad one. I don't have good results from them. I can hardly see them in the tank and not sure if they do a good job or not.

I use a bit of filter wool for stubborn stains.
If you buy products from the supermarket, make sure they are NOT antibacterial, as you can very quickly wipe out your bio-filter &, ergo, your fish!
