ok, this is something I am interested in getting into...
I mean, what can be a better combination, fish tanks, a summer full of Cricket on the TV and home made brew to top it off (oh, and air con during the stinky days)...
Who here brews there own liquid gold?
Link, recommendations appreciated

Close family friends of mine that are from england brews his own. I only get to sample it at Christmas, but I will say its the best brew I have tasted. For some reason I can drink alot more of it 8-) than the commercial stuff and no hangover the next day.
Proteus, you shouldn't start topics like this, now I want to go out tomorrow and buy a home brewing kit and start a brew.
Knowing my luck I probably posion myself.

I can go one better,
brew your keg under your tank.
keeps it at a comfortable, constant temp.
then run your bubble counter up into your tank and through your choice of reactor/diffuser.
hey presto co2!!!!!!!
me not silly!
enjoy

home brew beer is good! its fresh and most importantly its ur own! (therefore it must taste better)
my mate made his own moonshine distillery... it was quite awesome, i tried some of his firewater... it was heaps strong! he also made it a science with all these charts and what not, filtered with charcoal etc etc
all i can say!
nice

There used to be kits made by Coopers(not sure if it was THE Coopers) that included everything you need to get started. Beer mixture, keg thingy, bubble counter, yeast, brewers sugar, bottle cap press on thingo. All technical terms I don't expect you to understand! It was great. I did one and it tasted alright.
I forgot about a few bottles in the back of my dad's beer fridge for about three years. Cracked them open and it was the best beer I have ever had.
All you need is somewhere with a constant temp and away you go.

2nd the Coopers kits, you can get them from Kmart, Big W etc.
Havent made a brew for a while, but its not that hard if you use the commercial supplies.
Mate has started doing it from scratch and had a few barrels going (doesnt do it in summer due to the heat change).
I keep joking he needs to grow his own barley.
