What substrate have people had the most success with for breeding tanks for apisto's and betta's?
Cheers,
David.

David, I like ADA amazon aquasoil. It holds the pH stable, and the plants love it.
I now have it in 15 of my tanks, and I'm breeding wild caught Betta macrostomas and apistos.

Hey Merril,
Is substrate all you put in there? like - no gravel or sand or anything else?
just wondering. ^^

Just the ADA soil Kev. But I must admit, in some of the tanks I left the existing substrate in there (dark gravel) and put the ADA stuff over the top.
It's fairly lightweight, so stays at the top.

I've never used substrate before.. but just been looking into it for setting up a planted tank.
So much more homework to do.. hehe
Thanks
