From memory the frog wasn't that small so I guess it was a pretty big other thing. It was taken in a swamp in Canada last year and I can't believe I didn't hang around to see if the insect ended up as lunch.

Ben that bug looks like it came out of the bar scene in Star wars lol.
I took a shot of a bug just like that only a few days ago on a bush walk but it did not have the long nose. Some walkers came by when I was laying down on my stomach in the dirt they just looked at me like look at this nut  .
Did you take that bug shot in Australia ?
Mine is still in Raw I will convert it & post it so you can see how close they look. Maybe the males have the long noise :?

Just using a Sony Cybershot 3.1mb camera, few years old now.
Its got a good macro and i bought a 256mb memory card ages ago, so a whole holiday fits well.
Parents borrowed it for a 6 week trip to euroland, ended up filling it twice.
Of course you can get some good cameras cheap these days, Nikon Coolpix and the Canon ones are good for happy snaps and random shots. If you want to photo fish up close a decent Macro setting helps, mine is about 10cm, but you can get better than that.
Taksan is the photo guru, but im sure he spends more on equipment than the rest of us :P

-30 is beautiful weather. Makes you feel alive! Going outside for extended periods is true survival but being warm and inside knowing how cold it is outside is bliss.

Ahhh I miss Canada :(

I've had quite a few -30's over a few years at Big White. If only I could be there now.
And I'd only be a few hours drive from David Soares place to get an apisto fix

1:10pm and the Alpine still wasn't open Pro? Two possible reasons; really windy up top or the lifties are tracking out 7th and the Couloir!
I remember having 7th Heaven with 70cm of fresh and 3 mates for about 3 hours. All in the name of avalanche control!

Nope... too early in the season (that was taken late November '03) if I recall correctly, it was a very late season that year.

Give me a can of baked beans and I will show you avalanche control.... lol

That first pic of the snowy road. Is that on the way to Athabasca Glacier on the Icefields Parkway?
Looks extremely cold, miserable and awesome!

Yes, that sign is 1km North of the Glacier turn off.

That whole day it was a white out... I am trying to find where my pics are from the previous years drive.... got lots of pics up on the Galcier then...

Dude, where's my car

Fish them out mate. I'd love to see them.
How far up the glacier did you go?
When I was there we couldn't go very far as a kid had fallen into a crevasse and died a few weeks previous.

Didnt get too far.

The SnoCoach had already finished for the season, and someone was killed by being too adventurous only the week prior.

Walked up the South side though off the glacier which gave a great view 2,000ft further up the mountain (mind you, at -20c plus with the altitude, that walk was a huge effort, plus I was on my own that trip)
