im trying to sell my breeding tank

an i have an external cannister filter hooked up to it, but im going to use this filter for my next tank, but i was wondering if i take it off the tank an try an dry it out will i be able to sue the media again or should i just replace it?

i was thnkn it may go off an foul up my new tank?

any thoughts?

how about just use a backet....and continue to run the cannister filter from that backet...(with old tank water...)...maybe even put a fish or 2 in that backet

because i dnt have a heater for it, plus im not 100% sure that the media is safe to sue in another tank (there was a disease in that tank for a while)
