These little cory's are one of my favourite :D

I have bred the imported 'German albino sterbai's' before but have not bred the normal ones.

They spawned 2 days ago (see photo) and over 20 have hatched.

I scraped the eggs with a razor blade and put them into a fry saver.

These cory's make a great addition to a discus tank providing the water is not over 30.c.

are you sure they are true julii not trilineatus?

well, I'd say I'm 90% sure Dr V's are C.trilineatus to be correct. The trade has long mixed up these fish, and the one being produces en-mass are the C.trilineatus (unless of course u especially sourced wild C.julii).

To most hobbyist it doesn't matter anyway.....

.... plus Julii sounds much better than "TRI-LI-NE-A-TUS"

while i agree with you that it doesnt mater to most hobbyist but shouldnt we educate them knowing that they have different fish?

Just checked it up. I think mine are the C.trilineatus.

Check this out: http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/c_trilineatus.htm

Here's a few pictures of mine:

So where can I get the true Julii ? And how much should I expect to pay for them ? You might want to PM me for details.

I got these guys for $5 each :P

Thanks

Not 100% certain if they are trilineatus (body patterns isn't that strong), could be related species but pretty definite not julii.

For $5, I won't worry.

The tank light was off, then I turn it back on again to take the photo.

So I guess thats why the color was fading.

Thanks

I have been a bit camera happy today!

they have very interesting behaviour when the atmosperic pressure changes!

Ben, what is the best way to sex sterbai ? Or any corydora in general ?

And how many do you need to start a spawn ?

best way is the girls get a fat round belly when adult. Odd numbers are best starting with 5 and upwards!

cheers

Any losses?

With my metae, I normally encounters massive losses during their growth (only ~ 25% survives).

Also find metae extremely slow in growth. Takes months to get from 1cm to 2cm.

Looks like i might have close to %100 survival rate!

I am feeding very heavily (just started to add live blackworms to thier diet)
and am WC 3 times per week on the baby sterbs.

I dont think that baby cory's tolerate nitrate levels. This could be the answer Thomas...?

Yeah I suspected the nitrate and lack of food as the reason for the high mortality rate, but I ran out of tank space as well as no-one is home to feed them that regularly. Just want to find out what routines other have been doing with their fry for comparison. In my case, they're with the parents and older sibblings and lucky to get a WC in a week. Just don't have the time to do it so regularly.
