I'm thinking of redoing my tank to make it more discus oriented.

I don't have the time atm to devote to maintaining a fully planted tank and discus at the same time.

Also, with so many plants the discus like to hang out where i can't see them :(

I want to replace my light gravel with something darker, maybe Seachem Onyx.

The plants will be minimal, just some driftwood attached stuff, and maybe a sword or two.

Any recommendations on a good dark gravel?

I love dark gravel in a discus tank. The contrast really brings out the colours in the fish.

A lot of the dark gravels will alter your pH and hardness.

Best to check a small bag of it before you invest in a large quantity.

Eco Complete is nice. I am just about to try it out in a 2 foot tank. Fairly expensive though so if you have a large tank then it will take a lot of bags.
