I've been running a hydore external heater for a while.
Now I find the water throughput is reducing and the heater dosen't keep the temp. as high as I would like - I'm having to keep turning it up a notch to get there.

Does anyone know if these heaters get clogged up & need a clean?
If so, how should I clean it?

Hi Bill,

how old is the unit?
And what is the flow rate going through the unit and how many litres is the tank.

I have used these in the past and found them reasonable. If it does require a clean i would recommend using a soft bottle brush to clean any build up of algae and scum.

Thanks Ben.
The unit has been working fine for about 12 months - I do think it needs a clean as the flow rate has reduced recently - attached to an e-heim canister which is in good condition - I've cleaned all the hoses, but not the heater, so I will give this a try.
