And i've got a question....how long does it take till you know if they are unfertilized? After about 6 hours about 9 eggs were white (in one area) i think the male missed a spot lol

Update: About 1/4 of the eggs turned white but the rest still look nice and orange. Does this mean they are unfertilized or is it because they are a young and unexperienced pair?

After 48hours most of the eggs are white only about 30-40 eggs are left does this mean they are unfertile?

I think white eggs means the male needs to try again but they will get better with time mate 8-)
Goodluck!!

yes white eggs mean unfertile, as this is only there second spawn an by the look of the pair they look quite young it can take quite a few goes, in another thread ive read someone said it can take up to 12 spawns before they get it right.
it takes the male a lot more practice especially if younger, dont worry theres always next week, just takes time an practice like all things i guess!
anyway looking forward to hearing about the next spawn mate

thanks everyone, so since some of the eggs made it 48hours it means they are a pair? Since SOME of the eggs werent white after 48hrs
mistakes r crucial

Unfortunately mate no it doesn't. I've had eggs look OK for 3-4 days and then turn white.

So it means i dont have a pair? I thought if they werent fertile at all they wouldnt make it even though 24 hours....And if they just turned white on the 3rd day the male just needed some practice....
mistakes r crucial

No no no, you could well have a pair. I was saying that just because eggs dont go white over 48 hours doesn't mean they are fertile. They may well just need practise and get the hang of it. The best of luck with them and hang in there.
