the thing to do would be to send them an email and ask if they add anything, like fertilisers or fungicides, at all to their peatmoss. also, often the peatmoss is packaged in the same factory as fertilisers and therefore may be contaminated with fertiliser dust, so you may want to ask about that, too. if the answer to those questions is no, then it should be fine to use. just make sure you boil it up before adding to a tank.
peat moss is better to use, as it contains humic acids from the decaying plant matter. sphagnum moss is not a decayed material.

Read the packet very closely...........I think you will find the Brunnings Peat Moss is not genuine Peat Moss, it is Coconut fibre, not to be used at all ! As was said make sure it is genuine and contains no additives like fertilisers, but to be 100% safe go to the fish shop and buy some " Blackwater Extract " if you feel you need it.

Although this is not genuine peat moss it is fine to use in your tanks. I use it to breed my killifish on it, and store killie eggs in it with no problems.
Always read the label though, you never know they'll decide to "enhance" the product and add fertilisers in it.
