hi Guys

do you know anything about "sodium phosphate monobasic", it was contained in the PH adjustment powder which i use to adjust PH level in my ageing water before fill into the tank when doing water change.

due to the existence of "sodium phosphate monobasic" in the water, therefore the water in my tank has very high phosphate level when testing it. we know that phosphate will lead to algae and hence green cloud the water. do u think this will the cause of my water clouded?

is Sodium phosphate monobasic the same as "phosphate"?

any opinions are appreicated.

regards
Ken

cut back the lights will help you with the algae.

You need to post some details of your tank set up (such as tank size, filter, wc, and other parms) before people can help you.

I use Discus Buffer, which is a phosphate salt too, and I have no problems so far. It does cloud the water a bit for few minutes when I treat the water in a container. It clears up after few minutes. I did have some exessive algae growth and I cut back the light for 2 hours in the midday and the algaes are dieing off.
