FYI, All Aqua Design Amano glassware and layout tools have had a price review. Many of these products have now been reduced by up to 30%.
Much of this is based on feedback we have received, as well as the success of the Substrate and ADA Liquids in the local market.

I will always pay good money for quality products and no disrespect to APW but seriously who would pay $302 for a pair of scissors. ADA have got to be joking if they expect people to pay that amount of money. They would have to be made of solid gold to be worth it
The ADA substrates are receiving rave reviews over in the US and I will buy ADA substrates when I set up my next tank but to ask for that amount of money for a pair of scissors is amazing.
I think a $5 pair of scissors from Coles will do just as good a job.
Dave.

Go ask a surgeon how much they pay for scissors, or for that matter ask a hairdresser how much they pay. Then I think you will find that $300 is small change. You get what you pay for. These are surgical grade, Made in Germany under licence from ADA. These are designed to last a lifetime, and there are hundreds if not thousands of people around the world that would strongly disagree with your statement after using and owning such tools.
For the record as well. the most expensive pair of ADA scissors available in Australia is $255, not $302 (they are not stocked)

Not when you are dealing with delicate plants, and try find a pair of cheap scissors with a 1ft+ handle. These are tools, not just cutters, it would be like comparing a $1 razor blade with one that costs $15, the difference can be dramatic.
The comparisons could go on and on, Hyundai v's BMW, they both do the same thing, but one is miles ahead in quality and style.
Each to there own

No worries mate but just my last two bobs worth. We are talking about pruning plants here, not performing open heart surgery. I don't think the plant growth will suffer from being snipped with a $5 pair of scissors compared to a $300 pair of surgical grade scissors.
But as you said you get what you pay for and if you have alot of cash to throw around go for it.
Dave.

I think we need to put things in focus, whilst for the average green thumb, any scissors will do, but if you spend thousands setting up a tank, and the same on high quality, delicate or rare plants, the difference between success and an average job can be as simple as how sharp or fine the scissor blades are. Heck, I am not about to go out and stock up on these things, but I will certainly be getting a pair of the basic scissors and pinsettes, having tried them the difference is very noticable, plus, I guess others could then see and use them first hand to make there own mind up.

No worries mate,
I understand. I am not attempting to denigrate ADA or APW at all and if I had the cash I would buy some. When your set starts to blunt (if I am still alive) give me a yell and I will give it a go.

APW will shortly be carrying a full set of planting equiptment which look pretty good, but only a small fraction of the price of the ADA layout tools.
These look pretty nice, but when u start appreciating planting planted tanks, u'd appreciate the difference.
Different grade of stainless steel altogether. Different cutting edge.

As Kev has stated, we will soon be stocking a complete range of stainless steel tools and layout equipment along with a cheaper range of aquarium glassware such as diffusors, bubble counters etc, that are of a very high quality, yet don't come with the high price tag.
Also, for the fans of Omega One Fish Foods, our range of 35 food products has been increased to over 70 Omega One varieties. The new products and sizes are not yet visible on the website but will be once final costings are done and stock is on hand. The great thing about this is the large sizes that are now available in the Australian market, 900gm, 1.25kg, 2.27kg, plus Garlic enriched foods will certainly keep your fish happy and further cement Omega One's place as one of the best Fish Foods on the market, if not the best.

APW Major Upgrade
This coming weekend (26th - 27th August) the APW website will be receiving it's first major upgrade.
Aside from a few minor cosmetic changes, a load of new features and technologies will be added further setting apart what we offer online and to make things even more user friendly.
Some of the new features to look forward to:
* Select and view products by Manufacturer/Vendor
* Gift Certificates
* More detailed order tracking, and partial shipment advise
* Product Review - Allowing you to add reviews on our products
* Wishlist - You can add favourite products to a wishlist
* Newsletter, either monthly or quarterly advising of new products, soon to be released products and special customer only offers
* Save all - the ability to have your cart contents be remembered even if you close your browser
* Multiple product images, including the ability to have a large pop-up image for a higher level of detail
* Product inventory levels on select products (i.e. 7 in stock)
* Related products - something that is available now but is being improved further. Having similar or other recommended products displayed wth select products
* Shipping - more available options and price reductions to select regions
On top of these new features, the security protocols and protection measures will be further enhanced, optimised by our use of up to 256-bit Secure Sockets Layer encryption.
Once these upgrades have been loaded and the changes made we will also be adding several more manufacturers and brands to our inventory list, many of the products in question have been requested by customers on several occassions.
With almost 2000 products already listed, we intend to have the largest range of aquarium products in Australia with access to several brands that have previously not been available to the Australian hobbyist.
During the upgrade procedure some features or aspects of the websites functionality may be unavailable. Any such issues will only be temporary and have no affect on data we already have securely stored.
Thank you.

Just wanted to say thanks APW. Received my order of the ADA foods last week.
I tried the ADA Gold food on a batch of peruvian angel fry with outstanding results. I had been feeding baby brine shrimp three times a day for three weeks, since hatching, and the group seemed to be at a standstill. I began to think they were a dud batch and that I'd have to cull the lot.
Stopped feeding brine shrimp and began ADA Gold three times a day. Wow. What a difference! Suddenly the fins sprouted and the body size doubled in 6 days. Early days yet, but I must say, I'm very impressed.
I've got another batch of albino pearlscale fry soon to hatch. They are nororiously difficult to raise, so I'll be anxious to see the results on that batch too.
Again thanks.

From what I have been told, the ADA foods, especially the Gold are one of the highest protein based plankton foods available on the market. (minimum 50% protein).
I dont have any fry or small fish to try it on, but will definately give it a shot when the time is right.
Be interesting to hear how the pearlscales go...

Ben
AP-1 is for fry and small fish (fine powder)
AP-2 is for medium sized Adult fish (1-2mm grain)
AP-3 is for larger fish (2-3 mm grain)
with the Gold series the grain size is finer again, so AP-1 Gold is a very fine powder, AP-2 Gold is a fine powder, and AP-3 Gold is a 1-2 mm grain.
The Gold series has a higher level of protein, and all AP foods are Plankton based. The Gold series also contains Bacter which helps the fish activate their intestinal bacterial flora.
At this stage the Gold only comes in the 25g size.
