Hi all got sick of the pairs eating there egg only hours before hatching so i put some mesh over the eggs. The have moved the to the pot and also have fostered some ss/red turk wrigglers to them.2/3 of the wrigglers belong to the pb/al pair.
Hope you like.

Dave,

Someone told me that they don't put Fluoride in the water at Wangaratta - maybe that is the secret?

Brad's really dedicated to his Fish though and puts a lot of time and effort into them, I think that that's most probably the secret.

Great looking spawn there Brad !

Nice work :)

I think the secret is that water soluble viagra he puts in the tank water. Breeding season all year round !

i don't know of any Australia wide. It has to be him, it can't only be the water or the stuff he adds to it (date r@pe drug for the females and beer baths for the males) hehehe    .
Brad how many albinos do you expect from the lot ???

nicholas76
Sat Jul 01, 2006, 06:25 AM
i think its partly got to do with the fact that Brads water supply is free from fluoride.

and most of our discus come from water that has non of that stuff!!!!

A quick update, wrigglers are starting to freeswim, the pair are still catching them and spitting back on the nest. Some have attached to the p/b and a few are also on the albino's back which I thought wouldn't happen.
Wang water has no Flouride but they use Chlorine which I thought might be a at low dose, but I understand it's not, no different to what cities are.
I don't age my water, dont use chlorine remover,I just use a spray trigger on my hose and put it on the mist setting ( takes twice as long).Maybe that the secret.

i think we are all going to hit bunnings for a nozzle with a sprayer mist setting for our water changes,oh yeah and some form of fluride remover great stuff keep us all posted on the progress

yeah that nozzle idea is unique,, you did mention it to me once before brad! perhaps i should have tried it hmmm.

Brad is the water heated?

in relation to the fluride remover, I dont think its possible,,:(

Heya Crocky,

Great work mate :thumb

Will be interesting to see what the resulting fry from this pairing look like. Do you plan on growing out select fry and crossing them with each other or back with the albino parent ? If so, I think you will have some great looking Albino's in the future.

Top work, keep it up mate.

Cheers,

Dee :D

Dee,

I have seen similar crosses before. PB is a dominant gene and 75% of offspring look PB/ PB derivative. The remaining 25% are usually turk-like with massive peppering.

In this case I reckon the offspring should be bred back to one another - albino PB are like nothing else.

Hey G got any links on these pb/albino's.

I was gonna ask the exact same question Crocky :)

I have seen on the asian based Discus forums, many of the new forms of albino's ... ie:

Albino Carnations (turq based)
Albino Blue Diamonds
Albino RGD's

Not to mention all the Albino Turq's, Albino LSS and Albino Snakes, but still yet to see any pics of Albino PB's.

Any chance of a pic or link G ?

Cheers,

Dee :)

Samir - I have never been to that site mate..

The article I wa referring to for appearance of albino PB's is:

http://www.aquarealms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23364&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Any mods - sorry if I cannot post link here on forum (not sure if I am allowed).

The first pics you see on there are of what appear to be chequerboards (PB based by the look of it).

Later on the article there are some nice turks albinos too.

Some albino RGD's can also be seen here

G'day G,

Thanks for the links mate :D They are actually the links i was refereing to in my last post

Those patterned albino's are Albino carnations, the carnation is actually a red turq variant and not PB. They are very nice Albino's to say the least ... Although I must say Ung Seng Lip's Albino RGD's are truly awsome IMO and one of my fave Albino's I have seen to date .... JMO though

If anyone knows of some pics of Albino PB's I would love to see them, but from the info I have seen around the forums etc, there really isnt many, if any around ... must be a reason why ?

Thanks for the links G ... appreciate it :)

Cheers,

Dee :)
