Another Lighting - Compact Fluoros

My Local Cheapie Store (Chickenfeed) is selling Compact Fluoros rated at 6500 Deg Kelvin, they're not much in terms of wattage (I think 18 Max) but they'd be suitable for lighting at the ends of my tank (4 foot globes on a 6 foot tank atm) what do you think? are they worthwhile? I mean, the other thing, for $5 a Globe, can I go wrong? they just go into regular Bayonet Cap Fittings, so it'd be a cheaper way of setting up a hood...
