One thing I'm really aware of on this forum is the measurement of tanks and dosages in Gallons, now this is fine, provided we're all using the same Gallons, except that AU and US gallons are different, AU Gallons are 4.5L and US Gallons are 3.5L, which isn't much, but if you're medicating a tank based on AU Gallons and the dosage was given in US Gallons, I'm sure you can appreciate the problem.

Could we try maybe using some standard measures like Litres, they're the same in every country etc.

Mods, if I'm in the wrong place, please move me to the right one!

Just a thought people!
Cheers!

From what ive seen on 99% of liquids and meds, it states for example 2mL for every US 3Gal (Approx. what ever Litres)..

So there shouldnt be any confusing unless you use a different brand of stuff to me? :?

*nods*

I'm thinking in terms of advice given on here, if it was a medication labelling problem then it'd be another thing altogether. Things like Salt/gallon for salt baths. I've spent too long as a Project Manager, lol and I'm looking at potential problems that could arise.

also confusions in terms of "I have a 50G tank with this amount of fish in it, have I overstocked?" Type questions. in USG, quite possibly, in AUG maybe not (admittedly a 50G tank is a bad example, but when we're talking errors of 250L it's a different story)

is there any such thing as AU. gals?
I thought we became metric long ago.
therefore AU> gals don`t exist anymore, do they?
so the only gals. being mentioned would be U.S. gals.
and being that this is the world wide web and we have members from everywhere, not just OZ. it is easy for everyone to understand.
(try explaining a litre or centigrade to a yank    )
but I do know what you mean.
some sort of device to swap and changes measurements would be helpful.

Water Tanks are still measured in AU Gallons over here, (stupid as that may seem)

We may have converted to metric in the '60s, but there are a large number of areas that haven't quite caught up, steel, pipes, car bolts, Water Tanks...

So many areas...

You've got a good point there. I'll try to remember to use litres in the future. It is very confusing, especially when tanks are still sold as 3 foot 4 foot etc. in Australia.:P

Does get confusing, doesn't it?

I went around all my tanks and marked Litres and Gallons on each of them so I didn't get confused (Dumb Blonde!!!)

Not so silly Marg. I write on the sides of mine as well, I mark off each gallon with a line so I know exactly how much I syphon out and replace each time.
