Hi everyone I have a sick turk, she has been sick for about three months she comes good and starts eating, Im pretty sure its a worm problem, Ive used plenty of Praziquantel, and lemisole at times. She recently showed vast improvements I saw her first tapworm pass, then she stop eating. at the moment she is paper thin.

With the lastest dose of Lemisole shes taken a turn for the worst, shes not eating turned dark, and is sitting on the bottom of the tank pointing 45degrees upwards.
Has her time come?

Shes a mother too, with a partner?

No I dont have any pictures of her I put her to sleep about an hour ago.
She was very thin eyes were all glazy, sort of looked like PH burn.
She was breathing very slow, still point upwards with a 45 degree slant.
She had no life in her, she didnt even kick when she was netted.

Sad sorry day, she was my first ever discus that I bought 4 years ago I think.
At least I have 6 of her prodigy left Plus her partner.

Bad luck about the fish, especially as you have had it for 4 years. I'm amazed how much these fish affect people.
I think sometimes they can have internal disorders that slowly progress - then nature steps in with a bit of natural selection.
How are the rest of your fish going?

The rest of my fish are fine.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone too.

I agree Bill T I think These fish carry around certain bateria or bugs and come out at times of change etc, but If we bring them up well with plenty of worming etc It should give them a better chance.
Bit like vacinations for dogs and cats.
Just a Thought.

Chris,

Sorry to hear it.

I reckon that a longer course treatment with tetracycline in a hopsital tank (around a week) is required during quarantine to get the little buggers in tip top shape.
