We've been a little delayed in bringing in a new shipment the last couple of weeks because of nuptial reasons... but anyhow, our biggest shipment of specialist fish arriving very soon.

Here's just a list of SOME of the fish that have been ordered... there are other surprises, but I'll keep the suspense.

You can spawn all of the above with mops.

E.sexfasciatus - floating mop

A.bivittatum - floating and sinking mops
A.striatum - floating and sinking mops
A.primigenium - floating and sinking mops

A.amieti - sinking mop or over peat moss

A.filamentosum - over peat moss prefered (treat like nothos), but collecting eggs of the bottom mop is possible.

The only solution to this addiction is racking the tanks up. But you'll need to find somewhere in your place that can hold the weight first.

It works great for me :wink: It is one of those hammer lock shelving units, it is suppose to hold ~350kg per shelf. I got 5 of them :roll:

Yeah - I got one of those 150Kg version, because I don't have the room to fit the 40cm depth (30cm is max I can do without re-organising the dinning area).

Did you get the tanks built to fit the shelf?

Mine comes with the raw galvanised finish, did you have it painted/powder coated? They looked better than what I have.

Steph; the dimensions are 900mm long and 400mm wide - you can set the height required as you are assembling. I'll post another image of the whole setup when I locate it.

Thomas; mine is also galvanised! I bought product used to bind the paint onto glass and other tricky surfaces from the hardware store. I still have the can somewhere. And got acrylic paint. Called in couple of my fish keeping friends. And painted the stands in no time. You need one coat of the 'paint binder' then two coats of the acrylic paint does the job. It looks nice and neat that way.

Currently in the top row I have:

Far left tank has no fish
Greensnakeskin guppy breeders and fry
Blacktuxedo guppy breeders and fry
NeonBlue guppy breeders and fry

The dividers are permanent and water tight; and I got the tanks custom built for the shelves to maximize space usage. The dividers are DIY. There are only 4 tanks in the image that I got built. But since each divided compartment is water tight I treat them as individual tanks. So I count the photographed set-up as 10 tanks.

The top row divider dimensions are approx. 210mm widex390mm deep
The bottom row divider dimensions are approx. 150mm widex390mm deep

I also have on other shelves have tanks 450mm widex390mm deep (two per shelf)
tanks 175mm widex390mm deep (5 per shelf)
tanks 290mm widex390mm deep (3 per shelf) - oops I just remembered I divide those tanks into halves as well :roll:

So when I say I have 50+ tanks it is not a huge volume of water just mainly many small tanks!!! Still have to do water changes though :roll: :roll: :roll:

Well only two things are certain in a fish keepers life.. and one of them is water changes !

Looks like you have a nice custom setup for your fish. Probably a bit small for Apisto's as they really like their floor space but the tanks end on is the way to save space.

I did think about the 900 x 400 shelf with the intention of sitting 3 tanks per shelf (approx 300 x 400 each). That should be large enough for a breeding pair of apisto.

So now with the 800 x 300 shelf, I'm intended to place 2 tanks per shelf (400 x 300).

Pity about the paint bit - I've already racked them up with some tanks sitting. Will have to keep that in mind with the next shelf.
