I am interested in the Onyx gravel. Can you tell me how much would be needed for about a 2 inch layer on a 6*2*2 tank? Also, I am on the Gold Coast, what are your shipping costs (sorry, but couldn't find it on the site, although I am sure I have found your shipping info before)
Thanks

For a 6ft tank you would probably need 5-6 bags. Maybe someone who has used this gravel before may have a more accurate idea.
All our shipping costs are under review at the moment, however to the Gold Coast you would be looking at $9 for the first 5 kg's then $3 for every 5kg's above that. (some of the changes that are about to be implemented, Sydney and Regional customers can receive 25kg's for the same price as 5kg's, this will be calculated manually untill all the shipping rates have been updated.)

Marg.
Q: What is the difference between Pond Prime and Prime? Do I have to buy both for my aquarium and pond? Can I use either product?
A: The products are essentially the same. However, the instructions are different. Given that most ponds are more of an open system compared to a typical aquarium, chlorine tends to gas off more readily in a pond in effect therefore having to use less Prime.
Sorry, Hikari Discus is not on sale at this time

You could, however being that the regular Prime is slightly cheaper it would be a better option to use it.

There still may be a delay in shipping however we are taking orders on this item.

Just a quick question. How long will an unopened bottle of seachem products such as Flourish or Excel last. I am about 1-2 months away from finishing my current bottles and would hate to miss the great specials you currently. But would also hate for the products to go to waste.

I was recently reading on an American planted tank forum, that a lot of people keep there opened Flourish products in the fridge??? I know this is recommended with bacterial additives, but have never heard this in regards to opened fertilisers (meant to make them last longer).
aussieorchid
Thu Jun 15, 2006, 12:14 PM
Yes the fridge does make them last longer once they are opened. The freezer is even better. At work we make up large volumes of chemicals and freeze them in batches that will last a few weeks. Just defrost and refrigerate what you need to last 3-4weeks and keep remainder frozen.
I just wanted to check if the seachem products had a shelf life as the fridge can only do so much most chemicals have a limited time before they breakdown.

We recommend refrigerating the Flourish range to keep the organic components (vitamins and amino acids) as fresh as possible.
There is a potential for mold to grow on the opened product feeding on the organic components. If you experience this, simply discard the mold from the surface of the product and continue regular use. Refrigerating the product will help prevent this.
Whilst sealed Flourish products will remain in peak condition for up to 2 years and even longer depending on the climate.

Thanks for that info. Sounds about right to me. Another trick I was told is never dip the pipette or measuring devise in the tank and then back into the bottle this can encourage mold growth.

I wonder if down the track Seachem may consider placing a refrigeration blurb on the packaging, and maybe even a packaged date.

That may be something that we pass on to the local distributor and see if it goes anywhere (although I am sure they have probably thought of it before).
Whilst unrelated to Seachem, we have new stocks of TFH magazines available, and have reduced the prices on each edition that is in stock.
