Hey, guys:

My question is related to the CO2 system in the planted tank.
I have heard many people use magnetic valve for their Presurised CO2 systems. But many of them only sue that on community tank.

I was thinking discus are quite sesitive to PH changes. If totally discard CO2 at night. The ph might swing dramatically.

I think that is why PH controller was invented.

How about leave the CO2 running 24/7, and drop in an air stone just for the night.

Has anyone had similar set up?

Please give some comments, howz your fish?

many thanx

i leave co2 at all times, the controller shuts it off if it gets too low....

I leave my pressurised CO2 running 24-7. Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

If you have a PH controller then the C02 is switched on and off by the controller when required.

If you do not have a controller then there is no need to leave it on for 24hrs. The plants do not need C02 at night. You will also save C02.

mate, i totally understand plants do not need CO2 at night.

My ideas was relates to the PH stability.

Without a controller.

The PH will stay at a steady level over night.

Yeah, I would not risk running it over night. Plants expell Co2 at night instead of putting oxygen in the water since there is no light at night. A Co2 reacter and the plants both expelling Co2 at night will result in excessive amounts of Co2, which is deadly to your fish. With the co2 off over night the ph should not change.
Good Luck!
