Blooming open-top

Recently I have placed some tropical water lillies into my open-top aquarium in my room which recieved sunlight and Power Compact lighting. They have flourish much better than placed outside in the pond. The tank inside has 1inched Koi and other plants include taro and some Java Fern. Hopefully the Java Fern reachs above water too :P Its like mini garden in my bed room. The trickling sound of the water is so relaxing while sleeping :shock:

What a wonderful idea. The blooms are so perfect.

Do you have problems with condensation with the open top tank?

I'd love to do something like that.

With condensation....yes. I lose about 5% a week. But I change 25% of the water every week while cleaning the filters. So its usually ok. My room is at the back of the house and next to the back garden. So my room recieves alot of sunlight, good for plants but lots of evaporation. No damage of the room/paint so far.

As for the full view of the tank. Its not really a pleasent view since I have designed for it to be viewed from the top. Lots of algae below the water, but the koi seem to grow brighter like that.

A bit overstocked, but going to do a massive cull over the week and only keep the best out of these. They should be going to the auctions soon enough.
