Hi All,

is the 2 the same fish?? did a google search, not much on proximus but lot more info on surinamensis.

Will be setting up a 6x2x2 in 2 weeks time and will be housing some discus (5-6 adult), corydoras, loaches, pleco, pictus and featherfin catfish.

Can I add 4 geophagus proximus into the tank as knowing someone selling them. is $25 a good price for 4 x 12-15cm fish??

Not familiar with them but find them interested.

Many thanks in advance.

the worst thing with geos is they all look fairly similar be careful when buying them surinamensis look exactly like proximus, dicrozosters ect.
surinemensis where first bought in around five years ago since then dozens of differant horseface claiming to be surinemensis have been shipped when in acyual fact the could have been dicrozoster proximus rio negro so people unknowingly bought and breed these fish inturn cross breeding .
its always best to go for things that have distinct features when young eg orange heads y bars accross body rio pindare rather flat headed and compressed when young . dicrozoster have a forked fifth bar along there body and look spot if not better than surinamensis and proximus
cheers chris :D
