seachem flourish excel, any good?

hey nathan,

i have not used this product myself, however, i have heard countless amounts of times that this product is excellent. Dosage is one capful per 40L on the first day, then one capful per 200L every or every other day.

Proteus put me on to this product 2 weeks ago - Ipurchased some from one of our sponsors and commenced to use it in my Community Tank - BEAUTIFUL!!!!- my plants have never looked better.

No more going to the LFS and replacing Plants.

Do you use Co2 as well Marg or is just the Excel that is good?

IMO you would do your plants a favour,I have used sera but never really seen a difference until i used Seachem gear.

I've been using this Seachem Flourish Excel for a few years and it is excellent! Probably the best fertilizer i've ever used. I also use Tetra Flora Pride in conjunction with the Excel.

The only drawback is the low concentration - you can really burn through it with a large(ish) tank (400L). However, IMO, it's certainly the next best thing after a genuine CO2 kit.

I have a 4 foot planted Community tank, no Co2 (can't afford anything fancy at this stage) - I have been using the Flourish Excel for about 3 weeks now and the plants in the tank are looking great - so much so that next water change I am going to have to do some trimming - something I have never had to do before.

I am now thinking of getting more adventurous and purchasing some more expensive types of plants from APW - the plants they have catalogued look great.

I agree with you Marg. I've only got one tank with yeast based CO2 at the moment, and the other tanks I'm dosing with Flourish and Flourish Excel.

Plant growth in all the tanks is excellent.

It would be fine,Not really needed if you got DIY CO2.


Not to be a stick in the mud,In the long run using Excel over a DIY CO2 can get expensive.
Even a basic set up a regulator(around the $150.00) and little power head(About $20.00) and some tubing(Acouple of bucks),The rent of the CO2 bottle(approx$90.00PA) could be just as much as buying Excel for the year

it may be cheaper yearly to by Pressurized Co2 over Flurish Excel but for people that live from week to week in a sense bying a a bottle for whateva the price monthly even fortnightly works out to be a better solution...IMO
