Spray Bar Across or Straight Down

Hi, I was just wondering, do most people aim thier Canister Filter spray bars stright down or let them spray across the tank a bit. And, does it really matter either way.

My spray bar is in three sections so i am them all over the tank

i don't think it's that important

the spray bar is there to distribute the flow over a larger surface area and hence slow the overall water movment in the tank :wink:

My spray bar is across the water surface on the opposite side to the heater. It causes a rippling effect on the surface but does not spash and cause bubbles.

This ensures that CO2 is not lost from the tank (my tank is planted) and this also ensures air exchange in the water for the discus.

I also clean the tubes every fortnight as they get clogged and the filter struggles and the flow rate slows down...
