I don't think a plastic bag will leach anything in to the water column. But more importantly I think a bag in your tank will not look very nice.

My discus were very skitish and hid in the back corner until I moved the tank to a quieter place in the house where there was less movement. Now they come to the front of the glass all the time looking for food.

I use small pot plants with gravel and some vallisneria to provide cover for them.

i stole some plants and deco from the other tank so its better now.

wasnt too worried about the look of it, its a BB so looks wierd anyway. the tank is in my room, which im hardly ever in but i blacked out the back and both sides with a towel covering a 1/4 of the tank at the front so its a bit dimmer... they seem to be a bit happier now and i catch them at the front of the tank sometimes. thanks for your reply!!!

My fish not just Discus ( but mainly the Discus ) become skittish if the water is high in nitrate.

If I keep the nitrates low the Discus in the BB tank with light all seem outgoing.

But I could be just clutching at straws as I don't know your water parameters.

not sure if the tap water (after its aged of course) has nitrates in it, but im keeping them as low as poss with 50-75% water changes daily. ive put it down to water quality so am in the process of sorting out whats wrong and what needs fixing
