hi guys i recently bought a pair of red malbrous, from what i can see they both have breeding tubes, 1 has a fully dropped 1 as she is going to lay very soon (cleaning and test runs) and the other 1 has what looks to be a small egg tube but no way near as dropped as the other 1 so can males have egg tube looking things?? i cant get a good enough look at my other (real males) to tell what they look like.
any help sexing them would be great!

Jamie,

It is always very hard to tell between the 2 sexes.

When in the spawning process both tubes will drop and be more easily distinguishable.

The male is smaller, thinner and a little pointed where the female is big, thick and blunt.

See next time when they are about to spawn.

And just incase you have 2 females you will see them spawn together or a few days apart so note which one spawned and at what time.
