Tonite,I notice that 3 of my baby discus suddentley lost their buoyancy and seem to lost their balance of swimming after feeding time.

the stomach is bloted and they strugle to swim down however, they float back to the surface and lay flat on the surface.

I hope that anyone may advise me on this strange encounter.

Hi EQ. How old are the babies, and whar sort of food are you giving them. Is it always the same three fish that exhibit these symptoms, and is it only after they eat certain foods, like dry foods or beefheart etc.

In between feeds, can these fish swim normally?

Thanks for having an intrest on my strange finding.

First of all, They're about 3 months old and it occured only during the last feeding which I normally feed blood worms.

However, they return normal on the next day and there is no casualities or whatsoever.

I also think that is not only the three fish that having it.

suggests fermentation in the digestive tract

for people or dogs some fibre would help
prehaps more experienced members may comment on epsom salts as a purgative, or other methods of cleansing the GI tract
