Hi Dee,
I have bought a few custom mades from Big Blue aquarium in Springvale. He makes a nice tank and the price is right aswell.
In the trading post there is a custom tank maker called Alex, he is out Sunshine way.

Mentone build some of the cheapest tanks in Melbourne but the silicone work on the larger tanks can be a bit messy.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info, it's appreciated :D
Ben, I will give Big Blue a call and get a quote :thumb
Oscar and Inferno, I have bought tanks from Mentone in the past and as Oscar said their larger tanks can be a little on the messy side in regards to thier silicone work. That doesn't mean they are not quality tanks, but im planning on a BB painted tank and want things as neat as possible... if that makes sense ?
A question for Merrilyn ... may I ask where you got your 8x2.5x2.5 built, from memory it was a very well built tank and the silicone work was nice and clean. :)
Is there any special considerattions I should keep in mind for a 48x18x22(high) tank ? apart from using 10mm glass all round ?
Thanks for all the info guys, most apreciated :thumb
Cheers,
Dee :)

I bought a tank from Alex, and it leaked on me =(
Silicone work isn't the best, but i guess you get what you pay for.
I called him the other day, but he no longer makes tanks (said his too busy)
Tried Coburg Dee?

hi dee
go to number 164 cheltanham road dandenong , that fish store they also make good tanks, from mentone i got quote for a 4 ft x18 x18 they said to me $120 without cover glass. and that store in dandenong they do custom tank work , as i got quote for a 4 ftx18 x18 its $90 include cover glass, the difference is the one in dandenong they are friendly asians and give better price, they also willing to make what ever u need. the sillicone work they do is exelent compare to mentone.

Hey All,
Thanks for all the info re custom tanks.
Dave,
Sorry to hear about the leaking tank mate :x I gave Coburg a call and they said they dont do custom tanks at this time of year ? so that was that with them. I might give the guys Pirahna mentioned a call and see waht they have to say. I might just end up going back to Mentone, as I have bought about 6 tanks over the years from the guys there and never had any issues ... maybe I could just ask politely for clean silicone work  there is also a guy on Ebay who sounds very honest that is getting me a quote and he delivers anywhere in Melb for free and from what I can tell the tanks look like very good quality.
Thanks to all for the info.
Cheers,
Dee :)
