I have noticed this on occassion in the past but seems to be a little more often now. My male blue turq often yawns (blows??) and stretches his dorsal and anal fin simulataneously. It's kind of like he puckers up his lips for a second and then flexes his fins, mainly the dorsal. I'm not worried as he is not idicating any stress or discomfort, it just seems to be a bit of a stretch and yawn. May also be his recent maturing in to a 'male' and perhaps displaying some dominance or just prancing around the others.
Has anyone else noticed this before? The behaviour does not seem to be aggressive or directed at other fish however. These fish are amazing!
(I wonder if I yawned first and induced it in him, hmmmm, lol).

Yes, this is quite common.

Maybe it is a form of exercising the gill or so-called loosening up and dispensing any particle that may be inside the operculum or the filaments.

Just a thought

Take care,
Andrew :angel

Hi shrimp paste, yes my fish do it too.

I think Andrew's right in saying it's just a form of exercise.

Certainly nothing to worry about. :P
