I'm thinking of purchasing a 6 foot display tank. Just wondering how much would these cost with nice cabinet and hood? Does anyone know somewhere that makes cheap tanks?
Cheers

depends on what you mean by cheap...
if you want just cheap and average I could list out half a dozen places but I wont, if you want a good price for an excellent product well then I am willing to make a suggestion.
Why not give Wayne or Rebecca a call at Xtreme Aquariums (DF.com sponsors) in Taren Point, and I am sure they will give you a good price on a quality built tank, to your specifications, and a cabinet and hood that you will be hard pressed sourcing elsewhere for the price.

That cant be right, using retail prices (that I am familar with) you could get a 6x2x2 including an overflow/weir, a Premium High (900mm) 3 door cabinet, a hood, a fully equipped mini-reef filtration system with all plumbing and equipment, a light and still have some change... so you could maybe get $300 worth of fish...
$1800 for a 3ft'r... must be using gold as gravel

Let's wait for the product breakdown....
For one, if you wanted to spean $1800 on a 3x2x2 tank, I can certainly help you to meet your budget  with some kick a$$ equiptment, over filtration (with nothing but the best... EHEIM!), metal halides, with Dupla heating cables, CO2, solenoid, pH monitor....
There are many ways u can rack up that amount on a 3x2x2 and make it look like it's worth double!

true, true, true, but I for one would rather have the 6ft option with 'Good' quality equipment...
Then you can always upgrade if needed, with the 3ft option, you cant really upgrade, unless you get a bigger tank. Plus I prefer the stability a larger water body offers.

Hey guys,
Talking about tanks, what's a 4x2x2 with lids worth(glass only with no stand or hood)!

SO... could some one please give me an idea of what a standard 6 foot tank with cabinet and hood would cost? The setup is for my lounge area so must be decent quality. I wouldn't spend $1800 for a 3ft tank even if theres gold gravel in it :)

Well
a 6*2*2 is arounf the 500 mark i would guess for the tank alone. I have a 6*2*2.5 and got a replacement price of 600.
A lot depends on the thickness of glass that it used. Pay less get thinner glass, so just check what the glass thickness is when comparing prices.
Big tank needs a big filter. I would say that you are gonna be paying minimum 200 Dollars for 1 filter. I have an OTTO 450G so that turns mine over about twice an hour. So guage what you want and therefore 2 would be $400.
Stands well nice ones can be heaps so lets say $500 and up.
So that is the major components minus lights gravel etc etc.
Hope this is some idea and the prices are fairly rough but its what i would expect. When i got my tank i was told replacement value was $3000, including somew rather large fishes. So say abotu $2500 for the setup and the stand is a nice one.

If you wanted I could arrange a 6x2.5x2 (12mm glass) with a top quality cabinet (900mm tall unstained), and a large mini-reef/sump filter with all media, pump and hook ups... for around $1,500 or less...

It is... wasnt easy to find, and havent seen one similar in over a year (except the one in Nornicles tank pics)...
At the moment it is in my 4ft Discus tank with a little bit of Java moss and algae growing (to give it some character)... eventually I will attach some nice plants.

Display quality heritage style raw cabinet 900 high, is $520, or $420 for 735 high (standard height). 72x14 Flat style hood $175, 72x24 flat hood $260.00.

Dreamer, for a 48x24x24 the tank is $265, 36x24x24 $250
(10mm glass, including lids)
as for the cabinets, I dont have the prices, but it will be less than $420 (cost of 72x24 cabinet)...
Why not give Rebecca a buzz, just mention these prices for the tank, and ask for a price on whatever else you want.
One thing I will stress, these tanks are top quality, I couldnt be happier than I am with the tanks I have now...

Rebecca i know it wasnt my question but thanks for giving a quote.
When you say weir is that refering to a bulkhead in the bottom of the tank?
