HID for aquarium lighting

I am able to get cheap HID direct from overseas manufacture, which I already installed one into my car.

Just woundering, is it possible to cover it for aquarium use.
It's only 35W per bulb, and the light is more intense compares to metel halides. So you get better result and won't get so shock when you rec've the electricity bill.

It's also available in 4300k 6000k 7000k ~~ 12000k.

Anyone think it's good idea??

I don't know of anyone that has tried it.

Don't they generate quite a bit of heat?

I am a very bad handy man...that's why I post this message for help..
I did see some fish keeping books talking about HID lighting for aquarium. But HID price was very high before..It cost like AUD 1500 per unit.
Not sure if I can get a electric convertor to conver 230v to 12v??

HID globes emit very little heat from my understanding. Its the ballast that produce the heat which you keep away from the aquarium anyway
