I first indroduced it to my planted tank and the water became cloudy overnight. It didnt stop there the next few days looked worst and worst.
I didnt believe it was the purigen at first but now i have moved it to another tank and it has started cloudying up that one too.

Has anyone experience this before?

I read on the bottle that
Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen™ and render regeneration difficult.

Does Bio-Cycle by Hagen classify as a slime coat product? I've always thought it was a bio starter.

The bottle says Purigen can be regenerated by bleaching. I will give that a go some time this week ans see if it makes any difference.

Anybody's comment on the purigen or their experiences with it are welcome.

Cheers,
Eric

heres the reply from Seachem

The slime coat products only cause problems when you regenerate the
Purigen. After soaking in the bleach water solution you will soak it
in a dechlorinator solution. This is when the slime-coat products
can not be used. The slime coat products contain an amine based
polymer. This combines with the chlorine (bleach) and makes
chloramine. If you have not regenerated it this would not be a
problem.

It is an absorbent resin. It does not release anything in to the
water. Because it does not release anything into the water there is
no reason that your water would cloud. Did you do a water change or
any other maintenance recently? Has your pH , nitrite or ammonia
been tested recently? If so what were the values? If not please get
them checked and report them back to us.

To be safe i regenerated the Purigen according to the instructions on the bottle.

1 part bleach to 1 part water for 24hrs
rinse well and
soak in 10ml declorinator to 1 cup of water

I still havent put it back into the filter though still kinda worried.

As for the cloudy water I turned on my UVs non stop for the past week and did 50% WC every 3 days and everything's cleared up again.
