But I think its better to leave the co2 reactor inside the tank ??

i just removed the sump and i replaced it witha fluval 404. with the overflow, my co2 levels were hard to keep up with.

Hey,
The tank seems to be going allright. What are the specs, size lighting co2 etc? Once the plants grow and depending on what look your after and your light levels you may want to try a foreground like glosso and establish a midground as well. Check out Takashi Amano he is amazing. For discus the tanks just full of glosso and a nice piece of wood or good rock arrangement compliment discus very well. I just read his aquajournals and he has a beautiful huge tank 180x100x90 i think with heckels in it he used a lot of amazon swords a bit of hair grass and nice pieces of driftwood. He seem to use hairgrass(eleocharis) alot with glosso blends the driftwood in better I think.
Looking good anyway.

thanks for all the comments everyone :D
after maintaining an sps reef tank for several years, i thought it would be a nice change to try a planted discus tank. the tank specs areas follows:
80 gallon lee-mar tank (48"long x 18"wide x 24"tall)
lighting consists of 330 watt vho. 2 bulbs are 6500k trichromatics and 1 bulb is a 10,000k coralife
filtration is a fluval 404
pressurized co2 with an internal reactor controlled by a ph controller
ebo jager 250 watt heater
coralife turbo twist 9 watt uv sterilizer
the substrate is 100lbs of pool filter sand with a peat moss layer underneath
still learning the names of plants so please bear with me
amazon swords ranging from ozelot to marble queen. java fern. red tiger lotus. some dwarf sag. anubia barteri, coffefolia and nana. purple cabomba. there are also other types but i have drawn a blank. the only fish so far are rummies, orange glowlights, rosaline sharks and dojo eels.
i wanted to try something different as far as aquascaping but i plan on adding some foreground plants in the future. a little trial and error.
thanks :D

Looking good, heaps better with a foreground and midground to seperate the scape coming along well. You should be able to grow a fair bit with that 330w :D Not sure which plant your taling about but it looks like a hygro(hygrophillia polysperma) i think, pretty common but can look awesome given the right conditions,

my opinion: your tank gets better in every pic but last. the one on top of this second page is best.... you're improving in landscaping skills quick

thank you for the compliment :D i like to experiment with the tank as far as landscaping goes. i really don't know how to at all. i just add a couple of plants and place them where i think they look good. just trial and error i guess
