Let's just say the RGD was sold for more than any other fish listed above. They're not cheap, but when u see them in the flesh, your knees go weak.
RGD at this 4.5"+ size and quality takes a lot of grovelling and begging to get in Malaysia, so I'd say it would be a while before anything of this size and quality comes in again.
Smaller RGD may be easier to find (and less painful on the wallet)... SLS has 3 small 2.5" RGD available for sale in shop.

kevkoi
Wed Aug 31, 2005, 11:26 AM
discus go by many names... There's no fixed "breed" like in dogs or cats. So the best way is to show a pic of what these "Penang Golds" you are talking about. They could simply be the Golden discus (out of Penang).
Where did u get that name? Is there a pic attached to it?

Wed Aug 31, 2005, 06:18 PM
beautiful fishes ..
just wondering, kev, why do the RGDs have a black rim on the anal fin if they're pure goldens ?
181discus
Wed Aug 31, 2005, 06:29 PM
RGDs are of Pure Golden descent and do NOT carry the pigeon genes. and thus as such, they do not possess the pigeon trait of the black rims on the anal fins below, as all pigeons do. However, as pure goldens, they do have an inner-black band on their anal fins whenever they are mature and ready to spawn, just like the brown fish. The pigeon blood do not have such a trait of inner-black bands, but have the outer black rim instead.
i do have a couple of adult and juvenile Red Golden Diamonds for export from original breeder Ung Seng Lip.
cheers kev for the wonderful fishes available above!

That pictured red melon is 4.5". That is a female red melon. Male red melons do not keep the white face. The boys tend to be less pretty...
We have small red melons at 2.5".

Marlboro are pigeon based fish. Too much light, tank with dark backgrounds will all cause the black peppering to show up.
These are pretty good in that the peppering will be minimal... but they're still a pigeon blood based fish.
