Where to buy ?

I am about to buy my discus soon and I need some help. I dont want to get ripped off or pay to much or even get bad quality. So how do I avoid this ? It has been suggested to me to get them from Oakleigh but I also have heard people talk about SLS. Also my LFS said they can order some in for me, which I am not that keen on doing.

Hi Tara,

You won't go wrong buying from SLS, they have a very good name for quality. You might also want to try Rod Lewis who brings in excellent quality fish but I did hear the other day he is short of stock right now. You'll find Rod under Sunshine Discus either on this site or his web site.

I am also buying discus soon. Where are SLS aquarium and Rod Lewis? Do you have their website or phone number?

Has anyone heard of G&S aquarium on the Gold Coast or Aquarama in Brisbane? Do they have quality discus?

how did you go????


lady red has many 2 inch fish at the moment and some are going very cheap.

the best way to start is with non expensive fish, give her a pm before they are all gone!


you can talk to her about all sorts of discus things too so it may be a wise way to go.

Thanks for the reply but I have had a couple of problems with my tank, which has set me back. I am going to wait a couple more weeks just to make sure.
