The white eggs are infertile ones....but not to sure about some eggs falling to the ground :? ...it may be the pipe they layed them on...

But im not sure on that.... :?

in relation to the eggs falling off its normal that some do so dont stress. Good parents will sit there pick up and then blow the eggs back onto the sticky patch.

thats why i like using small cones as its less work for the parents.

white eggs are non fertile. you will lose some to this again normal. hopefully they dont all turn white.. it is there first go isnt it? so they wont be perfect first off.

update us thanks!!!!!!

Hi,
okie since the last time I posted, my yellow face malboro red pair had bred about 5 times...every 5 days interval..and and I was busy and
frustrated.. here is my stories and experiences...

1st time - they ate all the eggs... :(
2nd time - they ate all the eggs again.... :(
3rd time - after reading through the forum...I decided to cover the
eggs ....but on the third day..don't know how my mesh
got removed by the pair and again eggs disappeared.
4th time - cover the eggs but all eggs turn white..damn :(
and last week - dont bother to cover..and about 30 wrigglers and they stopped eating eggs..I think they finally realise....but I had troubled to get the fries to attach to the parents..so I went back to the forum to get more information. I removed my black sponge filter and just left the air stone...lower the water all the way down, cover the heater with white ..and finally on the 2nd day of free swim..they were all attached to the parents.... but some how they only attached to the father not mum .. :?: Hopefully and I can brought these guys up.....
But the main thing is this forum is awsome...I can get most information out of this forum..dont think i know what to do without the forum..

That's wonderful news marlbred.

Your parents look like lovely healthy fish. They should do a good job of raising their fry.

Congratulations, you are now officially a "Discus Breeder"

5 days free swim would be to small for them to eat by themselves. I move my fry once they 2 weeks old and started feeding them baby brine shrimp.

You can also feed them crushed ( very fine ) tetra bits . But you have to make sure that every fry gets to eat.

When they're small, you will need to feed them 6-8 times a day. And since you have to make sure that every fry get foods, you must chuck a lot of food into the tank.

This will pollute the water , hence 1-2 w/c required daily.

Good luck

if you are having trouble with the fry finding the parents lower the waterlevel to atleast 40cm.... 30cm is better thoagh. :P
