my fry died ** URGENT **

Hi all , I got a batch of 2 weeks fry here.

And today I just got home from uni and found 1 baby died on the bottom of the tank. Is this normal ? I dont want other babies get effected as well.

I do w/c everyday. When I feed the parents bloodworms, I also chuck a block of frozen baby brine shrimp for the babies.

Any thought and idea will be appreciated

how do they look? fry do die sometimes for no apparent reason. do they have flukes? do you have uv sterilization on their tank?

How do they look ? U mean when it died ?
Its colour turn pale , like milky white when I saw it.

I dont think they have flukes. Because I re regular water changes everyday. And parents dont have it either.

NO UV on that tank.

Does anyone know what causes gill flukes ?

Hi all ,

Now 3 more of my fry showing these sign :

1. It cant swim up
2. Stays at the bottom of the tank
3. Body turn milky white

So far 2 fry died.
Please help me.

Sometimes the fry will die for no particular reason. Seems to be, that as they grow something inside goes wrong. Nothing you can do to help. That's why discus have so many fry, because there is usually a hight mortality rate. Some of those babies just won't be 'perfect'.

Is that 5 now that have become sick, out of the hundred you had?

That's a lot to get sick in only a couple of days. We may have a bacterial infection here too. I think I would be treating the tank with metro, at a dose of 250mg per 40 litres twice a day. It won't hurt the babies at that dose.

Yes 2 had already died and the other 3 showing the above sign.

Im not sure if they have a bacteria infection or not ? How can I tell ??

The problem is, that we can't be sure if there is a bacterial infection. We can only go by the symptoms. It certainly sounds like a bacteria to me, and we can help the fry by getting rid of some of the bacteria, and giving them a chance to recover.

Ladyred, all babies has recover. None of them are showing these symptoms anymore.

So, so far only 2 babies died.
