Well i bit the bullet yesterday and overcame my paranoia that has been generated by this forum ;)
Went to OAFI in Melbourne and picked up 4 discus, impulsively i also bought a pair of rams to go with them !
They have all gone into my planted community tank which has been set up with discus in mind.
Current occupants are 20 Cardinals, 2 Clown Loaches, 2 BN and 3 SAE.
The new arrivals have settled in nicely and even attempted to eat some food this morning.

Its a standard 4ft tank, nothing too special.
Just planned out the layout and plantings, although the stuff on the left is getting a bit out of control :D
Next project is a new lighting system, thinking power compacts or T5s, with a hood and a viewing window to see the emergening stricta.
Woke up this morning to find the 4 discus playing in the filter outlet stream :D

No worries Junior ;)
Blue Stricta, Hygro, Anubias, Anubias Nana, Lillaepeosis grass, Amazon sword, some kind of fern, some kind of other plant with small round leaves that are red underneath and one that you cant see really well that is i think some kind of broad leaf anubias.
Is that helpful ?
Substrate is just plain gravel, deep gravel :D
Nothing fancy.
Im planning my next tank in my head, it will have a clay/soil base and a smaller gravel.
It is at least 18 months away though, going to go large !!!

they will bulk up, and over the next few weeks the colours will really come out on them
then you have the age old problem
is it a discus tank with plants
or a planted tank with discus LOL
