Dr.V. They were both being used as recently as 2 days ago to clear up a temporary tank, so yes, they work and are in good condition. If I look hard enough I could even put them in there original boxes.

Do HOB filters disturb the water surface much. I have a planted tank with CO2 and as you probably know you do not want to break the surface as you lose the CO2.

I had a Penguin years ago (many years) when I was a kid and was wondering if they are suitable for planted CO2 tanks.

If the base of the filter (return area) is below the water line, it does not break the surface apart from where the water returns.

With the AquaClears the return flow can also be controlled, so you can slow things down if need be.

I am only selling them as I primarily use large sumps/mini-reef systems or large canister filters now.

The reason that I was asking about them is that I currently have an Eheim Internal filter (the one with 3 sponges) which has a really strong current which I think the discus do not like. I also have a Eheim 2228 cannister and 2213 cannister on the tank.

Do you think this is too much filtration? Should the 2228 and 2213 be ample?

My tank is a 4x2x2 planted tank.
