question about external canister filter..

just wondering if using a bigger size filter for the tank would mean better quality of tank water or if it is just waste of money?

I am buying a 280 L tank to keep discus and later to breed discus. Not sure if I should buy the filter which would do up to 350L or filter which would do up to 600L. Only small price difference between the two filter.....

Also worry about bigger filter will create bigger water current and I was told that isnt good for discus.

Which one should I buy?

your filter should turn over the water in your tank around four time per hour

so if you went for the 600ltperhour filter it would still be short

I have a 490 lt tank which i run a 2000lt per hour trickle filter and a 1200lt per hour powerhead

IMO more is better, it doesn't take away from waterchanges but it does maintain water quailty between changes :wink:
