Hi,

my discus are currently on a diet of beefheart, blood worm and if they are good, sometimes live brine shrimp. Id like to feed them discus granules as well. I have been trying to feed it to them, but they wont have a bar of it. They just sit there and watch it float to the bottom. What is the best way to do this? Should i just not feed them until they give in?

I had the same problem with one of my discus. George at SLS said that keep feeding them the granules and they will eventually eat them. Discus can go without food up to month apparently. He said if they are hungry enough they will eventually eat them.

I tried this for nearly 3 weeks and my discus still would not have a bar of the granules so I gave in and fed her some frozen worms.

It can take a little while for a fish to recognise granules as food. Keep offering the granules at the first feed of the day, when the fish are hungry. It will only take one fish to accept them, and soon all the fish will be happily eating granules.

Just keep trying, and syphon out any uneaten food.
