My breeding tank is nearly cycled but my ph is sitting at about 7.4, would this be ok, the rest of my levels are pretty low, my community tank sits around 6.6, the pair ive got have spawned and had wrigglers etc in this tank.
Im running a sponge filter, Ive lost my gh kit so I cant give any readings, I can use rain water mixes if I wont :!:

Hi Chris,
I have found in the past that Discus will have better spawns more frequently in slightly acid water.
Personally my discus went off spawning when the water was at 7.4, i corrected the ph and BOOOM back to breeding!
I have just perfected my GH and all the breeders are at 30 ppm General hardness (ph 6.6) and it works a treat!
Hope this helps a bit!
cheers,
Ben

Hi Chris,
back in the day i was using good old fashioed peat.
it would cost a bit though, and never made a huge differnce. Now i bought myself a wizz bang R/O unit with a external TDS meter so i can control the GH with that!
works a treat.
HTH
