i dont think that photo serves it justice. Check out arofanatics.com gallery for some adult specimens.

the reason why these guys are so special is because chinese believe they attract fortune.

They are jurassic fish, live for 60plus years, keeps getting better with age, they are top of the food chain and CITES 1 listed (ie endangered species, although all those in the trade these days are F2 captive bred). When you see a well looked after speciment at 60cm + in the flesh and at their metallic colour and grace in the tank, trust that u will be hypnotised.

Makes the Saratoga look like... well...., the poor cousin.

Arowanas are not just expensive in Australia. They are consistently (on average) regarded as the MOST expensive fresh water fish in the world. The Koi has recorded the highest price for a fish, but not every koi can claim that sort of high price. On the other hand, every arowana holds value.

i have heard that if you put a ping pong ball in the tank for the fish to play with and look at, the chances of getting drop eye are reduced....

is that true?
