Hello, just want to compare with me, how many hours do u spend in a week to take care for all your fish ?? And also, for this forum ?
I spend around 3 hours for all the tanks ( 4 tanks ) in a week
And 15mins everyday for this forum

Thanks everyone ^^

Let me see.......... I spend approx. 1.5 hrs for my daily WC. Using 2 hoses really cuts down on the timing. So 1.5hrs x 7 days, that would work out to 10.5hrs per week. Guess it would sound like burden for some of you.......... Well, that's my regime.
And for the forum, I'll drop in whenever I have the time. That's why you can see my posting posted at odd hours.

Lets see at the moment my water changes take 30mins or less ive got a good routine twice a week.
I have breakfast with my fish 10mins morning at night 2hours or more looking.
On this forum maybe 1 hour a day all up.
Days of work maybe a trip to LFS anywhere from 10mins to an hour depends in I get caught up chating.
There a few hours there and I love every minute of it

Hrmm

Well

I spend about 3 hours once a week doing WC's and maint.
( Usually on Sundays )

Feeding takes about a half hour daily ( 15 min in the morning/15 min in the evening )

That makes it 6 1/2 hour so far..........

Looking at them and telling them how pretty they are.
Ummmm

Depends on who is doing what

I would say 4 hours a week on average.
(Specially during breeding season )
But that is a VERY general number.
I have been known to kill 4 hours in a night just watching them care for their babies.

So on average we are talking 10 1/2 hours with the fish

On the board.........
Gosh, ummmm
I would say 5 to 10 minutes - 5 to 10 times a day.....
Averaged out............
I prolly spend an hour a day here.
Sometimes more, sometimes less

So all in all we are talking about 17 1/2 hours ( Roughly )

Is that a bad thing?

i have re-arranged my study, have put the computer in the fishroom, so now when i am on the pc. i can see my 6ft tank and love the new setup. also next to the 6ft tank i have a 3ft breeding tank ready for spawning. in my lounge room i have a 4ft with the std tropicals and a small 2ft breeding tank for them All in all i guess some 10 hours per week seems fair subject to activities like breeding etc. then many more hours. On the forum some 30min per day is about the average. Jim

I would spend on average 1hr per day with my fish, just viewing them, tweaking things, testing water, (Hardness, pH, etc) doing poo vacs...

3-4 hours a week doing water changes.

On average 2-6 hrs per day on the forums (in general - www.ausfishforum.com - www.australianbettaforums.com - and here)

on top of working 50+ hrs

40 mins a night, 15% water changes 3 tanks, and wednesday and sundays do a 10% water change on my community tank .. so about 10 mins more on those days ...quality time with the guys and not bad exercise too =)

on the forum, not that long unfortunately atm, about 5 mins every day or every 2nd day ... within 24 hours I see about 250 posts ... whooa !

Fish - About 1 hr a Week w/c and stuff, 10 minutes a day feeding, 1 hr watching :D

Well no one said anything about "other" forums..............

All told I prolly spend 6 or more hours a day on the ADN sights.

If you count that...........

Then I spend about 60 - 70 hours a week looking at, caring for, or talking about FISH.

well after 12 months without discus i now have a male scribble snakeskin and a male golden sunrise, i have them in a 7x2x2 foot tank i built which has been thru a fishless cycle for 6 weeks running a trickle filter i made and a cannister filter. approx 1 hour a day on that tank feeding, poo vacuuming, water parameter testing. about 2 hours xtra for trickle fine media maintenance and 25% w\c per week. thats approx 9 hours a week with plenty more observing/appreciating. besides that i spend an hour a day at this site browsing, and about 3-5 hours a day at the moment working at building racks from steel to house the 4 and 6 foot tanks i am building, which one day i hope will make up my discus hatchery.

35 tanks on 2 systems = 2 hours per day syphoning, feeding and changing water plus 3-4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday getting rid of diatoms. All up about 18 hours a week and yep, like many others I work 50 odd hours a week running a family business.

between me and my other half we would spend around 2-3 hours doing fish stuff a day at least. Not to mention the hour or two i spend everyday looking around at forums. Most weekends if we're not working will be cruising round to lfs or picking up stuff that we found on the forum, so most of our time is spent on our fish, but its worth it. Going to the airport today to pick up some fish. Now that i think about it, we do spend quite a bit of time doing fish stuff...no wonder the house is never clean.
