Just wondering if by shivering do you mean flicking fins etc?

Like its trying to shake something off? To me (and this is by no means correct) it sounds like flukes. Thats what I would be thinking anyway....

Female Discus will flicker and still spawn by themselves.
Even with out a partner they will still lay eggs the spawning process can take days.

Darth, tell me more about this shivering. Is she doing it with her whole body, like someone gets the shivers because they are cold, or is it just with her little pelvic fins, the long thin ones.
When fish are spawning, they shiver with their whole body. This sounds more like a case of body flukes to me. Does she swim up to objects in the tank, and then quickly scrape her body along them.
The other thing I want you to look at is watch her breathing. Does she breathe from both gills all the time, or does she just breathe from one side.
