hi guys.

so i've set up 60L tub for water
it has a heater and an airstone.

i plan on doing water changes for my future discus every 3 days.

i add dechlorinzer and water ager, and cycle.
the ph doesn;t seem to change though. over a 3 day peroid it stays in the 7.2 area, that tanks ph is 6.2 this worries me a little

what can i do to lower the PH?
whats more important to discus when it comes to a good health.
steady water temp
steady ph.

no ammonia... ??

1. water temp should stay constant at 30 degrees Centigrade in both the tank as well as the tub water whilst you condition the water.
2. pH is not critical for discus i use straight sydney water and never adjust for pH. Sydney water has a pH of slightly alkaline and discus love it.
3. NO AMMONIA it is deadly to ALL fish. Sydney water has NO ammonia.
check it if you dont get Sydney water, where are you in Melbourne anyway?????....
4. water ager i find a waste of time and money. if you condition for 24 hrs. you dont need ager. Remember ALL chemicals are un-natural to fish THE LESS YOU USE THE BETTER.

i understand how deadly ammonia can be.

i wonder if anyone can answer me this...

during the tanks 1st cycle (which mines close to finsihing) how high should the ammonia get before it drops off and the cycles complete.

i'm cycling my 55g and before i put discus in i wanna make sure it's fully cycled before i do

currently the stats are

ammonia 2.0ppm (been running about 15 days now 2 30% water changes)
nitrite 0
nitrate 12.5
ph 6.2
