What is the "normal" way to size discus plz,

Is it from head to tail? or from top fin to botton fin? or is it from head to end of body?

I would really like to know what is the "standard" used when people sell Discus and they say eg.. selling 3 inch Discus,i am hopeing its from head to tail.

Hi Rossco,
There are 2 ways:

Total Length which is from tip to tip and standard length which is tip of mouth to base of tail.

Here is pic from "penang discus"

Great illustration - thanks Ben.

Most discus are measured in standard length, nose to start of tail, so a three inch fish has a body three inches long, plus tail.
