getting the eggs to hatch

hi all,

i have had success with a pair of fish, one blue diamond (male) and one red turq (female) they spawned a while ago had babiies and the babies are growing up very well now on their own. Since then the parents have spawned again many times but the eggs all go bad. i am wondering if any one knows what the kh should be in german degrees for optimum success, i can't remember what my values were before! also i did for a time have an eheim style filter in there which was not there when the fish spawned successfully, i just remoived it today and left em with the standard box bubble filter that was there originally. mabe the eheim created to much flow in the tank meaning that daddy couldn't fertilise properly.
Any thoughts?

PS, i live in melbourne and got my fish from mac. they are ace.

he is good, but not for discus,he is only good for africans

Dandenong and i was at mac's today, i never know his name hhaha he is selling all his larger stock cheap because he has nothing small. I wanted to get one of his pigeons but i thought id wait because i want to get some "new" strains. So what fish did you get off him??

i got (last may) some red turqs, blue diamonds, and golden pearls, the pearls have paired but they are still in a shared tank and the eggs don't last long at all, i havent got the cash to get the buggers their own tank, have four going at the moment. u?

Just 3 i got from sls but setting up another 3 4fters so got room to stock more. I go too heinze all the time, he doesnt have many discus but the few he has are in good nick. I was there yesterday and he had a golden sunrise, pearl pigeon and 2x scorpion sskin.
We call heinze "The fish natzi", he always has some weird species and loves his deformatives like the siamese twins on the counter. But you cant get better advice then his, he has been in the that shop for as long as i can remember and my parent say they used to go to him when they had tanks, so it must be 40+ years his been in buisness.
And i love asking Mac for adive about discus, he always replies "you pamper to much". I once asked him why he had goldfish and silver sharks in with his discus, I said i thought they are only compatable with a few species. His answer "you pamper too much!!!" Well he must be doing something right because he has the best RETAIL fish in melbourne.

Other than them there is meant to be another discus specialist in yarraville but i can't see to find him and dont know anyone who has been there.
